This is an ethnic and language map of Iran which was drawn by the University of Columbia Gulf 2000 project. It is based on variety of statistics and detailed fieldwork. However, it should be noted that in the map, some Iranian dialects are highlighted as different than Persian although the historical term Persian encompasses many of these dialects (including Mazandarani/Gilaki which is where I am from).
